Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to IUP

INDIANA, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Indiana Pa. during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
 
Alyssa Otto scored the lone Laker goal while Beata Sundling had an assist for Mercyhurst (5-3-1, 4-3-0).
 
Four minutes into the game, Mahogany Willis scored to give IUP an early 1-0 lead.
 
Ten minutes later, Alayna Ryan extended the Crimson Hawks lead to 2-0.
 
In the 52nd minute, Otto got the Lakers on the board. Sundling passed the ball up the field for Otto, who scored on the break away.
 
Vilde Wold made four saves for the Lakers while Madeline Smakulski made seven saves for the Crimson Hawks.
 
Mercyhurst held a 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams had three corner kick opportunities.
 
The Lakers are back in action on Oct. 9 when they host Cal. Pa., for the first game at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
