ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team fell 3-1 to No. 15 Ohio State Saturday evening at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
The Buckeyes got on the board first 9:09 into the first period on a goal from Gustaf Westlund. The Lakers evened the score 26 seconds later when
Dalton Hunter buried a shot for his third of the season.
Westlund scored at the 12:32 mark of the first to give Ohio State the lead. Kamil Sadlocha added a tally in the second to set the final.
The Laker penalty kill was 5-for-5 behind a strong effort from junior goalie
Stefano Cantali. Cantali made 32 saves for the Lakers taking the loss in net.
Steven Ipri and
Ethan Johnson each tallied assists on the Hunter goal.
The Lakers open Atlantic Hockey play next Friday when they travel to Bentley. Both nights are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. faceoffs.
