ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team shutout RIT 6-0 during College Hockey America action on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Emma Nuutinen had two goals and two assists while
Alexa Vasko had one goal and two assists.
Emily Pinto recorded one goal and one assist while
Summer-Rae Dobson and
Megan Korzack had one goal each. K.K Thiessen and
Sam Isbell tallied two assists each while
Maggie Knott,
Liliane Perreault and
Alexane Rheaume picked up one assist each.
Kennedy Blair was perfect in net with 20 saves for Mercyhurst (4-1-1, 2-0-0).
Nuutinen scored her first goal of the game with 19 seconds left in the first period. Vasko and Perreault had assists.
During the second period, Nuutinen scored again to make it 2-0 Lakers. Thiessen and Vasko had the helpers.
Mercyhurst just scored two power play goals in less than two minutes to make it 4-0. Dobson scored first with help from Isbell and Nuutinen before Korzack got on the board. Pinto and Rheaume had assists.
In the third period, Vasko tallied a shorthanded goal to make it 5-0. Nuutinen and Thiessen tallied assists.
Pinto ended off the scoring for the Lakers on the power play with help from Isbell and Knott at 17:32 of the third period.
Mercyhurst went 3-for-6 on the power play while RIT was 0-for-6.
Terra Lenteigne made 20 saves before Jessi O'Leary came in and made 11 for RIT.
The Lakers are back in action on Oct. 25-26 when they head to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Ice Breaker.
