ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team took down Sacred Heart 9-0 during non-conference action on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.

Alexa Vasko recorded two goals and one assist while
Megan Korzack had two goals.
Sarah Nelles,
Michele Robillard,
Maggie Knott,
Summer-Rae Dobson and
Emma Nuutinen had one goal and one assist a piece for Mercyhurst (2-1-1).

Sam Isbell tallied three assists,
Emily Pinto had two assists and single assists were picked up by Céline Frappier,
Rachel Marmen,
Abigail Schauer,
Jordan Mortlock and K.K Thiessen.

Nelles got the Lakers on the board first when she was feed the puck on a two-on-one with Robillard. Mortlock also had an assist. The assist marks Mortlock's first collegiate point. The Lakers took the 1-0 lead into the first period.

In the second period the Lakers scored five goals in just over four minutes to take a 6-0 lead.

Knott got the scoring started off of for the second period with a shorthanded goal, unassisted.

Pinto slid the puck over to Korzack who one-timed it to the back of the net to xtended the Lakers lead to 3-0, Frappier also had an assist.

Vasko scored two goals in 1:30 to take a 5-0 lead over Sacred Heart. Assists came from Marmen and Dobson on Vasko's first goal while Isbell and Nuutinen had assists on her second goal.

Nuutinen ended off the second period scoring spree with a goal assisted by Isbell and Vasko.

During the third period, Korzack scored her second of the game with helpers from Schauer and Pinto. It was Schauer's first collegiate point.

Robillard got on the board next for Mercyhurst on the powerplay. The eighth goal was assisted by Thiessen and Nelles.

Dobson capped the scored off at 9-0 with help from Knott and Isbell. Isbell passed the puck across the ice, it hit Knotts stick and landed in front of Dobson for the easy chip in.

Kennedy Blair made 10 saves in net and earned her first shutout of the season before
Jenna Silvonen saw her first collegiate action in the third period, making four saves. For Sacred Heart, Frankie Sanchez made 58 saves in net.

Mercyhurst went 1-for-3 on the power play while Sacred Heart was 0-for-4.

The Lakers are back in action on Oct. 18-19 when they open College Hockey America action while hosting RIT. Puck drops at 6:05 p.m. on Friday and 3:05 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online by
