ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's hockey team returns home to the Mercyhurst Ice Center to play host to St. Lawrence Friday and Saturday. Puck drop both nights is slated for 7:05 p.m.
The Lakers sit at 1-1 after a split with No. 20 Arizona State last weekend in Tempe. Friday's contest will be the season opener for the Saints.
James Anderson got off to a strong start for the Lakers picking up four points in the first two games on two goals and two assists.
Dalton Hunter dished out three assists. Six other Lakers have recorded two points on the young season.
Garrett Metcalf made both starts between the pipes for Mercyhurst allowing seven goals and making 68 saves through two games.
The Laker power play converted on 3-of-8 while allowing three power play tallies on 13 opponent attempts.
The Saints return their top five scorers from 2018-19 led by Carson Gicewicz who finished with four goals and 15 assists. Zach Risteau added 18 points on seven goals and 11 helpers. Cade Gleekel led St. Lawrence with nine goals scored a year ago.
St. Lawrence returns a pair of goalies from a season ago. Daniel Manella and Emil Zetterquist combined for 25 starts and 32 appearances. Mannella held a 3.66 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. Zetterquist added a .882 save percentage and a 4.14 goals against.
