Box Score EDINBORO, Pa.—The Mercyhurst men's basketball team won its sixth straight win on the road at McComb field house agains the Fighting Scots on Wednesday.
Four different Lakers scored in double digits including leading scorer
Nelson Maxwell with 24 points going 9-11 from the field. Followed by,
Jason Massey (18),
MiyKah McIntosh (14) and Nick Lang (12) in the PSAC victory over Edinboro.
Patrick Smith led the team with 8 rebounds and was one point shy of being the fifth Laker scoring in double digits.
For the Fighting Scots, both Jaryn Simpson and Trey Staunch led Edinboro with 15 points each.
In the first half, Mercyhurst (14-4, 9-4) came right out of the gate going on a 7-0 run before a jumper by Edinboro's own Daylon Harris put his team on the board. The Fighting Scots would then go on a little run of their own and cut their deficit to one before a jumper by Maxwell would ignite an 8-0 run for Mercyhurst going up 19-8. Picking back up just over the seven minute mark in the first half, Massey would start another Laker run but this time make it a 14-0 run making the score 50-24 with just over three minutes to play in the half. McIntosh led the run with six points after his back to back threes during it. MU would extend its lead to as many as 28 in the first half from Lang's basket and one, making the free throw. At the Half, Lakers led 53-27.
Heading into the second, Edinboro (5-13, 2-11) would cut the lead down to 20 by a three pointer from Alex Jay before the Lakers would respond with three consecutive three pointers. One being from Maxwell and the final two from McIntosh pushing the lead back up to 29 with 11:09 left in the game. Massey would then push the lead to 31 after two consecutive baskets for the Lakers. EU would cut the lead to 22 but it wouldn't be enough as the Lakers would push the lead back up to 36 and eventually close out the game winning 90-59.
MU shot 58.1 percent from the field, compared to the Fighting Scots 38. Both teams grabbed 33 boards on the night. 21 points came from the Lakers bench with only six coming from Edinboro's
