- The men's basketball team extended its win streak to five making it their largest win streak of the season after a victory on the road against California (Pa.) 90-55. The Lakers had four players scoring in double-digits including Jason Massey who led the MU with 24 points followed by Nick Lang (12) with Nelson Maxwell and Trystan Pratapas scoring 11 each. Edvaldo Ferreira led the Lakers with 11 rebounds, respectively.
- Fast forwarding to the second, Mercyhurst would get on another run (11-0) with Massey scoring five of the eleven points putting the Lakers up 59-23. The Vulcans would try to get some momentum right before the halfway point by going on an 8-0 run of their own making the score 65-35. The Lakers would go on one more final big run (7-0) before many other small runs to eventually close out the game 90-55. In the second half, the Lakers shot 54.8 while CAL U shot a low 32.1 percent. MU also out rebounded CAL U 39-32 in the game.

- Mercyhurst is coming of its fifth straight win of the season over California 90-55 making it their longest streak of the season. The Lakers will seek to extend that streak Wednesday as they take on Edinboro at the McComb Field House.
- MU has two players scoring in double digits including its leading scorer Massey averaging 17.2 per game placing him 14th in the conference and also second in field goal percentage (.582). The second leading scorer is Nelson Maxwell with 11.4 per game.
- Patrick Smith leads the team in rebounds with 8.1 per game putting him seventh in the conference. Ferreira leads the team in blocks and is sixth in the PSAC (1.2)

- Edinboro is coming off a rough past four games with a record of 1-3. In the four game span, the Fighting Scots lost the first game of four to Gannon 87-79 (Jan. 16) and then to IUP 102-53 (Jan.21). EU would then get its only win of the four games beating Clarion 82-77 (Jan.23) but then would fall in its most recent game to Slippery Rock 88-71 (Jan.26).
- Edinboro has two scorers in double digits as well with Jaryn Simpson leading with way for the Fighting Scots averaging 18.5 per game ranking seventh in the PSAC and eighth in field goal percentage (.527). Trey Staunch is right behind him in scoring with 14.3 per game and leads the team in rebounds with 6.4.
