Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The tenth-ranked Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team was shutout by third-ranked Minnesota 5-0 on Saturday at the Ridder Arena.

Minnesota (2-0-0) got the scoring started at 12:17 in the first period with a goal from Grace Zumwinkle. Taylor Wente and Nicole Schammel earned assists on the goal and the Gophers led 1-0 at the first intermission.

During the second period, Minnesota scored three goals to extend its lead 4-0. Alex Woken scored at 10:41 with an assist from Patti Marshall. Zumwinkle then picked up her second goal of the game assisted by Marshall and Schammel. To end out the second period, Sarah Potomak recorded a goal with helpers from Kelly Pannek and Amy Potomak.

In the third period, Taylor Heise picked up the fifth goal for Minnesota at 15:34. Taylor Williamson had an assist.

Minnesota outshot Mercyhurst 43-17.

The Lakers were 0-for-2 on the power play while the Gophers went 0-for-4.

Winning goaltender, Sydney Scobee was perfect in net with 17 saves.

The Lakers are back to action when they host No. 2 Wisconsin on Oct. 5-6 at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday
