SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team will visit third-ranked Slippery Rock on Saturday for a 6 p.m. PSAC West kickoff. The Lakers (1-3, 0-1) are coming off a 34-7 loss to third-ranked Indiana (Pa.) in what was a PSAC West opener for both teams.
Last week, the Laker offense was led by wide receiver
Austin Hence, who had seven catches for 120 yards, and running back
Garrett Owens, who finished with 14 carries for 90 yards. Altavilla finished 12 of 21 for 174 yards and one interception.
On defense, defensive back
Jake Tarasovitch was the leading tackler with 14 stops. Linebacker
Chris Peluso added 13 total tackles and defensive back
Dante Rodriguez finished with 12 total tackles. Defensive lineman
Xavier Martin had a sack and forced fumble, which was recovered by linebacker
Austin Drew.
Slippery Rock (3-1, 1-0) opened its PSAC West schedule with a 49-26 win over Seton Hill last week. The Rock also has wins over Kentucky State (38-31) and Millersville (57-10) while its only loss is to Shippensburg (25-21).
SRU has won three straight games over Mercyhurst and holds a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series.
