Women's Soccer Improves To 3-0-1 At Home With Win Over Edinboro

ERIE, Pa. -- Lauren Casey and Maya Bauer scored goals to lift the Mercyhurst women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over PSAC opponent Edinboro on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.

Casey tallied in the 21st minute, getting an assist on a through ball from Maia Russo.

After the Lakers took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Bauer pushed the gap to two goals with her score in the 56th.

Marissa Shields scored the lone goal for Edinboro in the 76th minute, breaking a Mercyhurst shutout streak. The Lakers, backed by goalkeeper Vilde Wold, had not allowed a goal in 366 minutes and 38 seconds of play.

Wold totaled seven saves to earn the win while her counterpart, Anna Voelker, made seven stops for the Fighting Scots (2-7-0, 1-7-0).

Edinboro outshot Mercyhurst, 16-14, and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Lakers (5-3-1, 3-3-1) will return to competition on Saturday when they host PSAC opponent Kutztown for a 1:30 p.m. start.
