Field Hockey Tripped Up By Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst field hockey team fell 3-2 to Slippery Rock during non-conference action on Tuesday. 
 
Leah Rogers and Alexandria Shumsky scored for the Lakers (1-5). Victoria Triaga made three saves in net.
 
Emily Polakovsky got Slippery Rock (5-2) on the board first in the 30th minute.
 
One minute and 18 seconds later, Rogers scored for Mercyhurst to tie the game.
 
Mercyhurst took its only lead of the game during the second half when Shumsky scored in the 45th minute.
 
Abby McKay tied the game back up for Slippery Rock when she scored in the 61st minute, before Liz Wolfe scored off a corner with time expired to take away a 3-2 win for Slippery Rock.
 
The Rock held a 9-6 shot advantage over the Lakers. The two teams were even in corners with four.
 
Winning goaltender, Maddie Murphy made four saves in net for Slippery Rock.
 
The Lakers are back in action on Sept. 29 when they host Kutztown at 1 p.m.
