PHILIPPI, W. Va. -- The 17th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team earned a 23-8 victory over Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday.
Oran Horn finished with four goals and one assist for the Lakers (6-3, 2-1) while
Nathan Grenon and
Devin Pipher chipped in with three goals each. Pipher also had two assists and
Colin Greenway had a nine-point game, totaling two goals and seven assists.
Also for Mercyhurst,
James Wittmeyer and
Michael Convery compiled two goals and five GBs each.
Patrick Sullivan had a goal and an assist. Single goals were recorded by
Elijah Whelchel,
Peyton Manko,
Patrick Liddy,
Caleb Kueber,
Jarrett Cook and
Nicholas Bartone.
Evan Schumacher was 20 of 29 in the faceoff circle, finishing with 10 groundballs.
Greg Weyl caused three turnovers.
Alec Starr was the winning goalie, making four saves through the first three quarters before
Hunter Emerson totaled two stops in the fourth.
Christian Clarkin scored two goals for A-B (1-4, 0-2) while goalie Joseph Varela had 20 saves.
The Lakers outshot A-B, 54-26, and held a 23-11 faceoff advantage and 62-44 edge in groundballs.
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday when they host fourth-ranked Seton Hill for a 12 p.m. G-MAC contest.
