#17 Men's Lacrosse Closes Regular Season With Win Over OVU

ERIE, Pa. -- Oran Horn led the way with four goals as the 17th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team defeated Ohio Valley, 13-2, in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game on Saturday at Tullio Field.

Nicholas Bartone added two goals while single goals were credited to Colin Greenway, James Wittmeyer, Michael Convery, Sam Crusha, Evan Schumacher, Caleb Kueber and Quinton Vargo.

Greenway led the way in assists, totaling three. Devin Pipher added two assists while Wittmeyer and Convery contributed one each.

William Koester earned the win in the cage, finishing with six saves.

The Lakers (10-4, 5-2) scored the game's first six goals before Ohio Valley finally found the net with 7:11 remaining in the second quarter. Of those six scores, Horn had three. Mercyhurst held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.

The Lakers dominated all major statistical categories: 43-23 in shots, 35-9 in groundballs and 16-2 in faceoffs.

Austin Andryshak and Drew Braden had the goals for Ohio Valley (3-9, 2-5).

Mercyhurst now looks toward the G-MAC Tournament, which will begin on Thursday with a pair of semifinal games at Seton Hill. The Lakers, who are the three-seed in the layout, will take on two-seed Lake Erie at 3 p.m. after top-seed SHU hosts Wheeling Jesuit at noon.
