GREENSBURG, Pa. --
Angelina Simon scored five goals and
Grace Lawson tallied four as the 19th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team defeated Seton Hill, 15-9, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition on Wednesday.
Lawson also had an assist to finish with a five-point game.
Taylor Izzo and
Lacey Netti had four-point efforts; Izzo finished with one goal and three assists while Netti dished four assists.
Emma Hubert added two goals and one assist for the Lakers (7-4, 5-2),
Kristin Anderson scored two goals and
Cassandra Ellis put in one goal.
Kira Kolb led Mercyhurst in draw controls with six while Anderson, Simon and
Torie Sullivan picked up three each. Simon also had three groundballs and two caused turnovers. Sullivan added two CTs.
The Griffins built a 6-3 lead in the first half before Mercyhurst closed the game with a 12-3 stretch. The Lakers went on a 6-0 run, getting three goals from Simon during the streak, and took a 9-6 lead. MU led the rest of the way.
Mackenzie Kilduff and Jaclyn Frank scored two goals each for host SHU (2-10, 1-7).
The Lakers held a 16-9 draw-control advantage while SHU edged MU in shots, 34-30, while holding a 25-12 advantage in groundballs.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Millersville for a 12 p.m. PSAC contest.
