ERIE, Pa. -- The 12th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team scored six second-half goals to defeat seventh-ranked Limestone, 8-5, in non-conference action on Sunday at Tullio Field.
Dan Kritkausky and
Sam Crusha scored two goals apiece.
Colin Greenway,
Dom Perna and
Devin Pipher finished with three-point games as all three recorded one goal and two assists each.
Also for the Lakers (3-1),
Oran Horn had a goal.
Greg Weyl led the defensive effort with four groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Joseph Plaskey had three caused turnovers while winning goalie
Alec Starr totaled six saves and five groundballs.
Evan Schumacher had four groundballs while going 11 of 16 in the faceoff circle. Pipher and Perna contributed three GBs each.
Goalscorers for the visiting Saints (2-3) included Brendan Smith, Noah Lindner, Jeremy Burns, Tyler Papa and Matt Hommel. Goalie Cole Aikens had 16 saves.
Limestone led 3-2 at halftime before a goal by Perna evened the score at 3-3 early in the third quarter. Then, back-to-back goals by the Saints pushed their lead to 5-3.
Pipher then got a 5-0 Laker rally started with his goal late in the third. After that, Greenway tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth and Horn put Mercyhurst in the lead with 7:08 to go. Kritkausky and Crusha tacked on insurance goals -- both of which were assisted by Perna.
Mercyhurst held a 29-20 shot advantage and 26-18 edge in groundballs.
Both teams went 0 for 4 in man-up situations.
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 10, when they visit Mount Olive.
