ERIE, Pa. -- The 22nd-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team will play its home opener when 16th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) visits Tullio Field on Tuesday.
Mercyhurst (2-2, 1-0) is coming off a 14-9 PSAC victory over Bloomsburg.
Kristin Anderson scored six goals and
Taylor Izzo finished with eight points, totaling two goals and six assists. Anderson also had seven draw controls and three caused turnovers. Simon also had five groundballs and Sullivan compiled three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Kira Kolb added three GBs and three CTs to the defensive effort while Dianna Schmitt caused four turnovers. Goalie
Raelyn Tiberio earned the win in net, recording 11 saves.
Izzo is Mercyhurst's leading point-getter with four goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points. Anderson and Simon have 12 and seven goals, respectively. Anderson is the draw-control leader with 12 while top defender Kolb has 11 groundballs and 10 caused turnovers. In goal,
Abby Miller is 1-1 with a 14.50 goals-against average and .383 save percentage while Tiberio is 1-0 with a 9.36 GAA and .579 save percentage.
The Crimson Hawks (4-0, 1-0) have wins over Alderson-Broaddus, Wilmington (Del.), Catawba and Kutztown.
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series, 20-3. IUP has won the last two matchups, including last year -- a 14-13 decision on Apr. 18, 2017.
