Men's Ice Hockey Welcomes Holy Cross For Key Atlantic Hockey Matchup

Setting the Stage
After a week off, the Mercyhurst men's hockey team will welcome Holy Cross to the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Feb. 9-10 for a two game Atlantic Hockey matchup. Both games start at 7:05 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
Mercyhurst traveled to Army West Point on Jan. 26-27 when they tied 2-2 on Friday and won 6-1 on Saturday.
 
Jack Riley had four goals, Derek Barach had two goals and Brendan Riley and Tommaso Bucci each had one goal.
 
Previous Matchup
The Lakers and Crusaders met in the beginning of the season on Oct. 13-14, when they tied 1-1 and 4-4.
 
Jack Riley, Johnathan Charbonneau, Nathan Ferriero, Taylor Best and Barach each picked up one goal for Mercyhurst during the weekend series.
 
Brett Mulcahy, Peter Crinella, Mitch Collett, Danny Lopez and Charlie Barrow scored for Holy Cross.
 
All-Time Series
Mercyhurst holds a 36-16-9 advantage over Holy Cross. The teams are even in the last 10 contests with a 3-3-4 record.
 
Scouting Holy Cross
The Crusaders are heading into the weekend series with a 12-11-7, 11-7-6 record.
 
They are coming out of a weekend series with Canisius, splitting the weekend with a 5-1 win on Friday before a 5-2 loss on Saturday.
 
Scott Pooley is on top of the Crusaders roster with 33 points. Michael Laffin is close behind with 27 points and T.J. Moore has 25 points.
 
In net, Paul Berrafato has played every game for the Crusaders this season, putting forth a 2.47 goals against average and .922 save percentage. He is ranked seventh in the nation with his save percentage. He also has four shutouts this season.
 
Holy Cross is ranked 38th in the nation on the power play with 17.4 percent. They are 26th in the nation on the penalty kill with 81.9 percent.
 
The Crusaders are tied for 1st place in the Atlantic Hockey standings, four points above Mercyhurst. The Crusaders have played three more games than Mercyhurst.
 
Mercyhurst Record
The Lakers have earned a 13-10-4, 10-7-4 record. They are riding a seven-game unbeaten streak, going 5-0-2.
 
Laker Leaders
Barach is leading the Laker roster with 27 points. Jack Riley is next with 24 points and Best has 20 points.
 
Between the Pipes
Brandon Wildung has earned a 12-9-4 record, 2.85 GAA and .917 save percentage in net. Wildung is ranked 15th in the nation in save percentage. Colin DeAugustine has a 1-1-0 record, 2.91 GAA and .896 save percentage.
 
Special Teams
Mercyhurst moves down six spots to 16th in the nation on the power play with 22.0 percent. They move up eight spots to 19th in the nation on the penalty kill with 82.6 percent.
 
AHA Honors
Jack Riley and Brandon Wildung were named Atlantic Hockey Player and Goalie of the week, respectively, for the week ending in Jan. 29.
 
National Honor
Jack Riley was named the NCAA No. 1 Star of the week for the week ending in Jan. 28. He had four goals and two assists in the Lakers weekend series against Army.
 
Soaring Sienerth
Bryan Sienerth has 10 assists and 13 points in his last 10 games. Five of those 10 games were multi-point nights.
 
Century Mark Watch
Barach, Jack Riley and Charbonneau are close to the 100-point mark. Barach needs four points, Jack needs five points and Charbonneau needs 10 points.

For the first time since Nov. 2015, Mercyhurst has received votes on the weekly United States College Hockey Online poll for two straight weeks.
