2018 Winter Olympics: Follow Mercyhurst's Four Olympians

Mercyhurst University has three graduates and one current student-athlete at the 2018 Winter Olympics, which are being held on Pyeongchang, South Korea. The quartet includes two women's ice hockey graduates, Meghan Agosta '11 and Bailey Bram '12, who will represent Canada; one men's ice hockey graduate, Ryan Zapolski '11, who will represent the United States; and one current women's ice hockey player, Emma Nuutinen, who will represent Finland.

CANADA WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY SCHEDULE

KNOCKOUT ROUNDS

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 21 - Gold Medal Game: Canada 2, United States 3 (2-3 SO)
-Meghan Agosta and Bailey Bram earned the silver medal after coming up on the short end of an instant-classic gold medal game against the United States. Agosta finished the game with an assist on Canada's go-ahead goal in the second period and also converted on one-of-two shootout chances. The silver medal is Agosta's fourth Olympic medal and the first for Bram. For the tournament, Agosta totaled 5 points (2G, 3A) 20 shots, a +7 rating, and averaged 18:15 of ice time. Bram recorded two shots and averaged 3:35 of ice time in Canada's five games.
 
MONDAY, FEB. 19 - Semifinals: Canada 5, Olympic Athletes From Russia 0 
-Bailey Bram and Meghan Agosta combined for five shots on goal and 23:16 of ice time in Canada's 5-0 win over O.A.R. Canada will play for their four-consecutive gold medal Wednesday, Feb. 21 against the United States. 


PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

SUNDAY, FEB. 11 - Canada 5, Olympic Athletes From Russia 0
-Meghan Agosta recorded an assist in Canada's 5-0 win to begin the tournament. Bailey Bram also saw ice time for Canada. 

TUESDAY, FEB. 13 - Canada 4, Finland 1
-Meghan Agosta scored the game's opening goal and added an assist en route to a 4-1 win over Finland. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 14 - Canada 2, United States 1
-Meghan Agosta scored another goal, the first of the game in the biggest matchup of the preliminary rounds to help Canada defeat the U.S. 2-1. Canada finishes the preliminary round with a perfect 3-0 record.

UNITED STATES MEN'S ICE HOCKEY SCHEDULE

KNOCKOUT ROUNDS
 

TUESDAY, FEB. 20 - Quarterfinal Round: United States 2, Czech Republic 3 (0-1 SO)
-Ryan Zapolski made 26 saves in the United States' 3-2 shootout loss to the Czech Republic. With the loss, the Americans were eliminated from the tournament one round shy of the medal round. Zapolski made several key saves late in the third period and overtime and stopped 4-of-5 Czech shootout attempts. Zapolski finished the tournament with a 2-1-2 (W/L/OTL) record, a 2.32 goals against average, and a .904 save percentage. 
 
MONDAY, FEB. 19 - Qualification Round: United States 5, Slovakia 1
-Ryan Zapolski made 22 saves for the United States to defeat Slovakia 5-1 in the first elimination round of the Olympic tournament. The Americans move on to play the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals Tuesday night.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 14 - United States 2, Slovenia 3 (OT)
-Ryan Zapolski made 22 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss against Slovenia in the opening game for the USA Men's hockey team. 
THURSDAY, FEB. 15 - United States 2 Slovakia 1
-Ryan Zapolski made 21 saves to pick up the first victory of the tournament for the United States in a 2-1 win over Slovakia. The U.S. now leads Group B with 4 points.
SATURDAY, FEB. 17 - United States 0, Olympic Athletes from Russia 4
-Ryan Zapolski stopped 22 shots in the United States' 4-0 loss to O.A.R. Saturday morning. The U.S. finishes group play with four points and will play in the playoff qualification rounds on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

FINLAND WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY SCHEDULE

KNOCKOUT ROUNDS

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 21 - Bronze Medal Game: Finland 3, Olympic Athletes from Russia 2
-Emma Nuutinen had nearly 17 minutes of ice time in Finland's thrilling 3-2 win over O.A.R. to win the team's third bronze medal all-time. Nuutinen finished the tournament with two points (1G, 1A), 11 shots on goal, a -3 rating, and averaged 15:16 of ice time in six games played.
 
MONDAY, FEB. 19 - Semifinals: Finland 0, United States 5
-Emma Nuutinen had a shot on goal and 13:46 of ice time in Finland's 5-0 loss to the U.S. in the semifinals. Nuutinen and Team Finland will play for the bronze medal against the Olympic Athletes of Russia on Wednesday, Feb. 21


SATURDAY, FEB. 17 - Quarterfinals: Finland 7, Sweden 2
-Emma Nuutinen scored her second-career Olympic goal against Sweden in Finland's 7-2 quarterfinal win. Finland advances to the semi-finals to take on the United States Monday night at 10:10 p.m. EST.

SUNDAY, FEB. 11 - Finland 1, United States 3 
-Emma Nuutinen skated in Finland's 3-1 loss to the U.S. in the first game of the tournament. Finland scored the first goal before the U.S. rattled off three unanswered.

TUESDAY, FEB. 13 - Finland 1, Canada 4
-Emma Nuutinen had 14:03 of ice time in Finland's 4-1 loss against Agosta, Bram, and Team Canada.
THURSDAY, FEB. 15 - Finland 5, Olympic Athletes from Russia 1
-Emma Nuutinen picked up an assist in Finland's 5-1 against O.A.R. Nuutinen now has two career Olympic points. Finland will face Sweden in the quarterfinal knockout round Saturday.
