Joseph Duszak scored two goals as the Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team defeated Air Force 4-1 during Atlantic Hockey play on Saturday.
Jeremy Wu recorded his first collegiate goal and
Joshua Lammon had the other Laker goal.
Tommaso Bucci,
Chris Makowski,
Matthew Whittaker and
Derek Barach picked up assists for Mercyhurst (8-8-2, 6-5-1).
Kyle Haak scored the lone goal for Air Force (9-7, 9-5).
One minute and two seconds into the first period, Wu scored to give the Lakers an early 1-0 lead. Bucci and Makowski had assists.
During the second period, Duszak scored his first goal of the game to give Mercyhurst a 2-0 lead. Whittaker and Barach added assists.
Two minutes later, Haak scored to bring Air Force within one.
During the third period Duszak and Lammon both scored shorthanded goals to give Mercyhurst a 4-1 win.
The Lakers were 0-for-5 on the power play while the Falcons finished 0-for-4.
Winning goaltender
Garrett Metcalf made 34 saves in net for Mercyhurst. Billy Christopoulos made 29 saves for Air Force.
The Lakers have two weeks off before heading to Ohio State on Dec. 28-29. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
