ERIE, Pa. --
Jason Massey scored 18 points, leading a quartet of Lakers in double-figures, as the Mercyhurst men's basketball team rolled past Bloomsburg for a 95-47 PSAC victory on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Trystan Pratapas,
Malik Jones and
Nelson Maxwell added 16, 12 and 11 points, respectively, for MU (6-1, 2-1). Massey and
Patrick Smith grabbed nine rebounds each.
MiyKah McIntosh dished seven assists while
Nicholas Lang made six.
Bloomsburg was led by Travis Elmore, who finished with 12 points. Sekou Fofana put in 11.
The visiting Huskies (3-4, 1-2) jumped out to an early 7-4 lead before Mercyhurst responded with a 13-0 run. Maxwell had six points during that streak, which helped the Lakers to a 17-7 advantage.
MU added a 9-0 stretch later in the half as Jones hit a pair of 3-pointers while Pratapas hit one trey.
The Lakers continued to build their lead and went into intermission with a 47-23 margin.
After scoring the last two points of the first half, the Lakers opened the second with a 20-3 run -- led by 12 points from Massey. The Lakers led by as many as 49.
MU had a strong day from the field, going 40 of 76 (52.6 percent), including 14 of 29 (48.3). The Lakers stifled BU, which was 16 of 52 (30.8 percent) and 3 of 17 (17.6), respectively. Mercyhurst had a 45-32 rebound advantage.
The Lakers will return to action with back-to-back PSAC home games on Dec. 18-19 when Kutztown and Mansfield visit the MAC for 3 p.m. starts.
