Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team suffered a 5-4 loss to seventh-ranked Ohio State in non-conference action on Saturday.
Geoff Kitt,
James Anderson,
Steven Ipri and
Taylor Best scored goals for the Lakers (8-10-2). Kitt's tally was his first as a collegian.
Best and
Joseph Duszak made two assists each.
Derek Barach and
Brendan Riley also had assists.
Carson Meyer led OSU (11-4-3) with two goals while Sasha Larocque, Freddy Gerard and Ronnie Hein had one each.
Kitt got the Lakers started 9:27 into the game, receiving an assist from Best, before the host Buckeyes came back with a pair to take a 2-1 lead through one period.
MU tallied twice within a one-minute and 12-second span early in the second. Anderson tied the game with a power-play goal, getting assists from Barach and Duszak. Then, Ipri gave the Lakers a 3-2 lead with assists from Best and Riley.
The Laker lead was short-lived as OSU connected just 21 seconds later on a goal by Meyer.
Mercyhurst retook the lead at 4-3 on Best's goal with 5:49 remaining in the second, but Ohio State came back again on a goal by Meyer to tie the contest at 4-4.
Larocque provided the game-winner with 9:26 remaining in the third period.
