Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss of the Season

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.-- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team fell to PSAC opponent East Stroudsburg on Saturday receiving its first loss of the season. 

Jason Massey was the leading scorer for the Lakers with 18 points followed by Derrick Ellis Jr.'s ten and Trystan Pratapas eight. Edvaldo Ferreria led Mercyhurst (4-1, 0-1) in rebounds with seven with Patrick Smith right behind him with six.  

Right before halftime, the Lakers were able to go on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to four before East Stroudsburg (4-2,1-0) was able to pull ahead and go into the half leading by ten. Mercyhurst in the first half shot 35.7% from the field while the Warriors shot 46%. 

In the second half, East Stroudsburg shot 61.5% and outscored Mercyhurst 45-38 .The Lakers shot 50% in the second half giving them a field goal percentage of 43% in the game while the Warriors shot 54%. East Stroudsburg out rebounded the Lakers 34-25.

The Warriors own Jakwan Jones was the leading scorer for the Warriors tallying 22 points.

Next Up: Mercyhurst will look to bounce back on Sunday Dec. 2nd as they travel to Lock Haven
