Women's Ice Hockey Suffers 4-1 Loss to Lindenwood

WENTZVILLE, Mo. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss to Lindenwood during College Hockey America action on Saturday.
 
Samantha Fieseler scored the Lakers lone goals while Vilma Tanskanen and Maggie Knott tallied assists.
 
Late in the first period, Nicole Guagliardo got the Lions on the board first with assistance from Shannon Morris-Reade.
 
A little under three minutes into the second period Lindenwood took a 2-0 lead with a goal from Megan Wagner. Guagliardo and Hannah Alt had assists.
 
Mercyhurst scored its only goal of the game when Fieseler capitalized on the power play at 1:20 of the third period. Tanskanen and Knott picked up helpers.
 
Alt scored an insurance goal for Lindenwood when she converted on the power play with assists from Kirsten Martin and Alexandra Larson.
 
With nine seconds remaining in the third period, Larson found the back of the net to give Lindenwood a 4-1 win. Taylor Kirwan added the lone assist.
 
Sarah McDonnell made 22 saves in net for Mercyhurst (5-6-0, 5-2-0) while Jolene deBruyn made 30 saves for Lindenwood (2-6-1, 1-3-1).
 
The Lakers went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Lions finished 1-for-2.
 
Both teams are back in action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. EST).
