Women's Ice Hockey Shuts Out Lindenwood 5-0

WENTZVILLE, Mo. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team shutout Lindenwood 5-0 during College Hockey America action on Sunday to finish the weekend with a split.
 
Liliane Perreault and Alexane Rheaume scored their first collegiate goals while Sarah Hine, Vilma Tanskanen and Megan Korzack scored the Lakers' other goals. Goaltender Sarah McDonnell picked up her second shutout of the season and tenth of her career.
 
Maggie Knott picked up three assists, Morgan Stacey had two assists and single assists were credited to Mary Katherine GialamesRachel Marmen and Tanskanen. 
 
A little over halfway through the first period, Korzack scored her first goal of the season to get the Lakers on the board first. Stacey tallied the lone assist.
 
At 4:31 of the second period, Tanskanen scored with assistance from Knott and Stacey.
 
Fifty-seven seconds later, Hine capitalized on the power play to give Mercyhurst a 3-0 lead. Knott and Marmen picked up helpers.
 
Late in the second period, Perreault scored her first collegiate goal to send the Lakers into the second intermission, up 4-0. Gialames added an assist.
 
Rheaume netted her first collegiate goal at 12:18 of the third period, to eventually give Mercyhurst a 5-0 win. Knott and Tanskanen recorded assists.
 
McDonnell was perfect in net with 16 saves for the Lakers (6-6-0, 6-2-0).
 
Jolene deBruyn stopped 16 out of 20 shots before Sophie Wolf came in and stopped eight out of nine shots on net for the Lions (2-7-1, 1-4-1).
 
The Lakers finished 1-for-6 on the power play while the Lions went 0-for-5.
 
Mercyhurst is back in action Nov. 10-11 when they host non-conference opponent sixth ranked Cornell. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
