WALTHAM, Mass. --
Derek Barach recorded a hat trick and finished with a four-point night as the Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Bentley, 5-3, in Atlantic Hockey action on Friday.
Barach, who also had an assist, tied the contest at 3-3 with a second-period goal before scoring the go-ahead goal with 8:47 remaining. He added an empty-netter at the 19:59 mark.
Joshua Lammon also scored for the Lakers. He has goals in each of the last three contests.
James Anderson,
Josh McDougall and
Matthew Whittaker had two assists apiece.
Quinn Wichers added one helper.
Garrett Metcalf was the winning goaltender, totaling 27 saves.
Mercyhurst trailed 3-1 through one period with Lammon's goal being the only Laker tally. Lammon was assisted by Anderson.
The Lakers tacked on a pair of power-play goals in the second, starting with Ipri, who received assists from McDougall and Barach. The aforementioned trio connected again when Barach tied the game with assistance from Ipri and McDougall.
On the go-ahead goal, Barach had assists from Anderson and Whittaker. Then, Wichers and Whittaker assisted the final Barach score.
Brendan Hamblet had a three-point night for the host Falcons, finishing with one goal and two assists. Drew Callin added one goal and one assist while Matt Lombardozzi tallied a goal. Jonathan Desbiens and Will Garin also had assists for Bentley (5-8-1, 4-6-1).
Falcon goalie Aidan Pelino totaled 17 stops.
The Lakers (6-7-2, 4-4-1) finished 2 of 5 on the power play while Bentley was 0-for-3.
The two teams will match up again on Saturday in Waltham, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
