Emily Shopene had a double-double worth 21 points and 13 rebounds, but the Mercyhurst women's basketball team fell to Ursuline, 76-73, in overtime during non-conference action on Tuesday.
Shopene also had five assists while
Amber Renz and
Maria Lapertosa scored 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Nicolete Newman grabbed eight rebounds.
Julia Cardwell had 25 points and nine rebounds to lead the Arrows (1-3). She connected with a game-winning three-pointer in the waning minutes of overtime.
Mercyhurst (1-4) trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. Its largest fourth-quarter deficit was 12 before it stormed back on an 18-6 run to tie the contest at 63-63. Shopene and
Maria Lapertosa had six points during that stretch. Shopene hit a game-tying three with 11 seconds remaining.
The Lakers battled back from a four-point deficit in OT, going on a 5-0 run. Oswalt had four of those points, including three on a shot that put MU ahead, 70-69.
The host Arrows regained the lead before Oswalt had a three-point play to tie the game at 73-all. That set the stage for Cardwell's game-winning trey with six seconds left.
Mercyhurst will play its next contest on Saturday, Dec. 1, when it visits East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
