Baker got the scoring started with his first goal of the game at 15:03 of the first period. Lammon chipped the puck up to Bucci who took a shot that hit the post and slid out towards Baker for an easy tip in.

One minute and thirty-three seconds into the second period, Baker scored his second goal of the night to put the Lakers up 2-0. Bucci passed the puck off the boards to Lammon, he skated it towards center ice and dished it over to Baker who took it to the net and went top shelf.

RIT came back and tied the game with goals from Hamacher and Girduckis.

Thirty-seven seconds after the tying goal, Bucci gave Mercyhurst its lead back, 3-2. Lammon passed the puck back to Bucci who slid it across ice to Anderson. Anderson skated it towards the net and passed it back to Bucci who found the back of the net.

During the second period, Baker finished his hat trick to give Mercyhurst a 4-2 advantage. Duszak sent the puck up the ice to Baker, giving him a breakaway opportunity that he capitalized on.

RIT came back within one, when Peacock scored at 11:02 of the third period but it wasn't enough as Mercyhurst held on for a 4-3 win.

Winning goaltender Stefano Cantali stopped 25 out of 28 shots on net for Mercyhurst, including a penalty shot during the second period. Logan Drackett made 15 saves for RIT.

The Lakers went 0-for-1 on the power play while the Tigers finished 0-for-2.
