Derek Barach,
Wes Baker,
Joseph Duszak and
Dalton Hunter had two-point nights to help the Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team secure a 4-1 non-conference victory at Saint Lawrence on Saturday.
Barach and Baker had one goal and one assist each. Duszak and Hunter made two assists apiece.
Also for the Lakers (3-5-2),
Michael Bevilacqua and
Matthew Whittaker scored goals; Bevilacqua's was his first collegiate goal.
Mercyhurst jumped in front with a pair of first-period goals. Baker scored, with assists from Hunter and Duszak, before Bevilacqua tallied with 1:47 remaining in the frame with assistance from Hunter.
SLU closed the gap to 2-1 on a goal by Keenan Suthers in the third. Then, the Lakers put in a pair of insurance goals by Barach and Whittaker. Barach was assisted by Baker and Whittaker got help from Barach and Duszak on the power play.
Garrett Metcalf was the winning goalie, making 18 stops for his first victory as a Laker. Arthur Brey had 36 saves for the Saints (1-8).
Mercyhurst went 1-for-7 on the power play and SLU was 0-for-2.
The Lakers will return to Atlantic Hockey action next weekend with two games at Sacred Heart on Nov. 16-17.
