Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team downed Bloomsburg, 3-1 in a PSAC contest on Friday. After the Lakers jumped to an early 2-0 the Huskies were able to win the third set looking to build momentum. But the Lakers buckled down and took the fourth set to earn the victory.
Katie Baird racked up 18 kills, along with Alyssa Zirnheld and Alyssa Kling's ten kills each for the Lakers (10-17, 5-9), who won with set scores 25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19.
Mary Marusza had the match high 47 assists with Hannah Vuylsteke leading the way for the Lakers with 27 digs complimented with Marusza's 17 and Baird's 16.
For Bloomsburg (5-19, 1-13), Bryn Stek had team high 29 assists and Sarah Gomish smashed 18 kills for the Huskies.
The Lakers will look to grab their sixth PSAC win of the season tomorrow as they travel to Lock Haven at 1:00 PM.
