Box Score ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to Army West Point during Atlantic Hockey action on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Ethan Johnson scored the Lakers' lone goal while
Stefano Cantali made 22 saves in net for Mercyhurst.
Mason Krueger, Matt Berkovitz, Dalton MacAfee, Zach Evancho and Tucker DeYough had goals for Army.
Johnson got Mercyhurst on the board first at 3:15 of the first period.
Devon Daniels tallied an assist.
Five minutes and twenty one seconds later, Krueger tied the game at 1-1 with assists from MacAfee and Tipper Higgins.
During the second period, Army capitalized on the power play with a goal from Berkovitz. Krueger and Trevor Fidler picked up assists on the go-ahead goal.
One minute and twenty two seconds later, MacAfee gave Army a 3-1 lead with an assist from Higgins.
Evancho scored at 13:41 of the third period assisted by Alex Wilkinson and Ian Mansfield.
With 51 seconds left in the third period, DeYoung scored the empty net goal to give Army a 5-1 win.
Winning goaltender Trevin Kozlowski made 28 saves in net for Army.
Both teams are back in action at the MIC on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets will be available 90 minutes before puck drop and may be purchased with cash only at the door. They are $15 per adult and $8 for student/seniors. MU students get free admission.
