Football Struggles Against Cal (Pa.)

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team dropped a 23-0 decision to California (Pa.) in a PSAC game played over two days. The contest began on Saturday, but was postponed due to lightning before continuing on Sunday.

Defensive back Jake Tarasovitch was Mercyhurst's leading tackler with 11 total stops. Linebacker Chris Peluso was credited with a fumble recovery and linebacker Joseph Scro had an interception.

Running back Fredrick Green was the Lakers' leader on offense, gaining 82 yards on 16 carries.

Courtesy of two field goals, the visiting Vulcans held a 6-0 lead after Saturday before tacking on another field goal and then two touchdowns on Sunday.

The Lakers will return to play on Saturday when they visit cross-town rival Gannon for a 12 p.m. start.
