Women's Ice Hockey Earns 4-2 Win Over Robert Morris

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team defeated Robert Morris 4-2 on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
 
Emily Pinto and Samantha Fieseler led the Lakers with a goal and an assist each while Alexa Vasko and Sarah Hine recorded the other two goals. Summer-Rae Dobson tallied three assists and single assists were credited to Vilma Tanskanen and Emma Nuutinen.
 
Emilie Harley and Lexi Templeman scored goals for Robert Morris while Anjelica Diffendal, Sarah Lecavalier, Amber Rennie and Kirsten Welsh had assists.
 
Harley got the scoring started at 8:07 of the first period with assists from Diffendal and Lecavalier.
 
Less than three minutes later, the Colonials took a 2-0 lead with a goal from Templeman. Rennie and Welsh added assists.
 
Pinto got Mercyhurst on the board at 14:01 of the first period. The power play goal was assisted by Fieseler and Dobson.
 
Vasko scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game at 2-2. Dobson and Pinto picked up assists.
 
Forty-five seconds into the third period, Fieseler gave Mercyhurst its first lead of the game when she capitalized on the power play. Tanskanen and Dobson had assists.
 
Hine tacked on an insurance goal at 5:10 of the third period. Nuutinen recorded the lone assist.
 
Winning goaltender Sarah McDonnell made 30 saves in net for Mercyhurst (3-4, 3-0 CHA) while Lauren Bailey stopped 22 shots for Robert Morris (3-4, 0-1 CHA).
 
Both teams are back in action Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Tickets will be available 90 minutes before puck drop and may be purchased with cash only at the door. They are $15 per adult and $8 for student/seniors. MU students get free admission.
