Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team fell 5-2 to Ferris State during non-conference action on Friday.

Joshua Lammon recorded a goal and an assist while
Matthew Whittaker scored the other goal for Mercyhurst.
James Anderson and
Joseph Duszak also tallied assists.

Hunter Wendt scored two goals while single goals were credited to Frankie Melton, Cooper Zech and Marshall Moise for Ferris State.Â

After a scoreless first period, Wendt got Ferris State on the board first with assists from Mackin and Andren.

Halfway through the second period, Lammon tied the game at 1-1 with an assist from Anderson.

Ferris State scored two goals in 2:29 to take its lead back 3-1. Zech converted on the power play with assists from Kallen and Melton. The Bulldogs extended their lead with a goal from Moise. Wendt and Hetz picked up assists.

Two minutes and six seconds into the third period, Whittaker scored to bring the Lakers within one.

One minute and eighteen seconds later, Melton found the back of the net to put Ferris State back up by two. Transit had the lone assist.

Later in the third period, Wendt scored his second goal of the game. The power play goal was assisted by Mackin and Rutkowski.

Colin DeAugustine stopped 41 out of 46 shots on net for Mercyhurst (0-3-1) while winning goaltender Roni Salmenkangas made 23 saves in net for Ferris State (1-2-0).

The Lakers went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Bulldogs finished 2-for-5.
