Isbell Scores Game Winner, McDonnell Records Shutout in Women's Ice Hockey Win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sam Isbell scored as the Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team finished its weekend sweep with a 1-0 win over College Hockey America opponent Syracuse on Saturday at the Tennity Ice Pavillion.

Winning goaltender Sarah McDonnell was perfect in net with 25 saves to earn her ninth career shutout.

Isbell scored the lone goal of the game at 14:21 of the second period. Sarah Hine slid the puck to Isbell who skated it towards the net and went bar-down. Summer-Rae Dobson also tallied an assist.

With the win, head coach Mike Sisti ties current Harvard coach Katey Stone for Division I women's ice hockey all time win record with 464 wins.

Ady Cohen stopped 23 shots for Syracuse (0-3-0, 0-2-0).

The Lakers (2-4-0, 2-0-0) are back in action Oct. 19-20 for a CHA weekend series against Robert Morris at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
