INDIANA, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team fell 89-38 to No. 3 Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.
Maria Lapertosa led the Lakers with seven points, and a pair of rebounds.

Kori Sidwell and
Eliza Oswalt each added six points.
Emily Shopene led rebounds for the Lakers with four.
IUP was led by Megan Smith with 17 points, both Carolyn Appleby and Audrey Stapleton added 16 points apiece.
IUP (12-0, 7-0 PSAC) would never trail in the contest grabbing a three point lead on the first basket. The Crimson Hawks would stretch their lead to as high as 54 points with two minutes remaining in the game.
The Lakers were held to single digit scoring through the first three quarters of play by the IUP defense. During the fourth Mercyhurst (5-8, 3-4 PSAC) recorded a game high of 17 points.
Sidwell led the Lakers in the fourth scoring six of her seven points during the final quarter of play. Sidwell and
Stephanie Petery scored to start the fourth, before IUP could respond. Sidwell hit a jumper a minute into the final quarter of play, and Petery sank two consecutive free throws.
IUP held an edge at the glass out rebounding Mercyhurst 36-25. Mercyhurst struggled in the turnover department with 27, to the 15 turnovers by IUP.
The Lakers will play again next on Monday when they host Clarion at 5:30 pm in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
