BEMIDJI, Minn. – A third-period goal by
Brooke Hartwick helped the Mercyhurst women's hockey team earned a 2-1 win at Bemidji State Wednesday afternoon.
Hartwick's goal was her sixth overall and her second game-winner this season. Her last game-winning score came back on Dec. 1 at Robert Morris.
The other Lakers' goal was scored by
Summer-Rae Dobson, her fifth of the season.
Maggie Knott picked up assists on both scores and is now tied with
Molly Blasen for the team lead with eight assists.
Céline Frappier also had an assist on Dobson's goal, her fourth of the season.
Sarah McDonnell started the game in net for the Lakers and got her second-straight win after making 32 saves. She is now 4-6-2 this season.
The Beavers got their first and only goal of the game 15:13 into the first period. Kiki Radke scored with Kara Werth adding an assist.
Dobson tied the game at one exactly three minutes into the second period.
Late in the third period, Bemidji State had a potential goal called off due to goaltender interference. Shortly after, Knott and Hartwick converted on a two-on-one break at 15:17 to give Mercyhurst the go-ahead tally.
BSU outshot Mercyhurst 33-18 for the game. There were only three combined penalties for both teams in the game, all of which were called in the first period. No power play goals were scored.
Mercyhurst returns to Mercyhurst Ice Center to begin 12-straight College Hockey America games to finish the regular season. They'll host RIT Jan 12-13 with Friday's game scheduled for 3 p.m. and Saturday's puck drop set for 2 p.m.
