Men's Ice Hockey Stretches Win Streak To Four With Win Over AIC

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team claimed its fourth straight win, defeating American International, 3-1, on Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center in front of 1,067 fans. The win streak is the longest stretch for MU since a four-game stretch in Feb. 2015.

Laker goaltender Brandon Wildung totaled 32 saves to earn the victory while Bryan Sienerth led the attack with a goal and an assist. Jack Riley and Tommaso Bucci also had goals for the Lakers (12-10-2, 9-7-2) while Derek Barach and Patrick Piacentini tallied assists.

Blake Christensen scored the lone goal for AIC (9-14-2, 8-10-2).

Three minutes into the first period, Sienerth capitalized on the power play when he tipped Barach's shot into the net. His third goal of the season put the Lakers on the board first. Piacentini had the other assist.

Five minutes later, Christensen was tripped and granted a penalty shot, which he scored on to tie the game at 1-all.

A little over halfway through the second period, Riley scored his ninth goal of the season with a deflection on Sienerth's shot.

Less than a minute and a half later, Bucci scored a shorthanded goal to extended the Laker lead and score the game's final goal.

The Lakers were 1-for-4 on the power play while the Yellow Jackets were 0-for-4. American International outshot its hosts, 33-15.

AIC goaltender Stefano Durante made 12 saves.

Both teams are back in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
