ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team visit Gannon on Wednesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest. Tip-off for the Porreco Pride of Erie game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Hammermill Center.
The Lakers (7-7, 4-6) are led by
Lorenzo Collier and
Malcolm Walters, who are averaging 15.2 and 13.5 points per game, respectively.
Patrick Smith has had five double-doubles in 2017-18 and averages 8.3 rebounds and 8.1 points.
Mercyhurst has won 2 of 3 games. It lost in its last time out at Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 67-64.
Gannon has three scorers averaging double-figures: Jair Green (14.8 points per game), Zay Jackson (14.4) and Evan Phoenix (13.6). Phoenix is the team's leading rebounder with 8.9 boards per game while Damon Miraud grabs 7.6.
Gannon won both matchups between the Erie rivals last year, taking the Jan. 18 matchup at Mercyhurst, 78-73, and then winning in its own gym, 82-76, on Feb. 25.
The game will feature the top two scoring defenses in the PSAC. Gannon has allowed 63.88 points per game while Mercyhurst has given up 63.86.
