EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst field hockey team lost its first official Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup 7-2 on the road against top-ranked East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers (2-4, 0-1 PSAC) were often playing defense as the Warriors (8-1, 1-0) fired 27 shots, including 16 on target. Mercyhurst managed seven shots with five going on net.
With the Lakers down 1-0,
Clare Ahern scored to tie the game 18:58 into the game. Ahern's goal was her third of the season and it was assisted by
Katelyn Smith.
East Stroudsburg led 3-1 at halftime and extended their lead to 7-1 before
Paige Albright scored with under four minutes to play. Her goal was her first of the season.
The Lakers travel to Rockville Center, N.Y. to take on Molloy College tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m.
