Women's Soccer Falls In Final Minute To Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 last-minute defeat on the road against Bloomsburg Friday afternoon.

Emilie Bock opened the game's scoring for the Lakers (1-3-2) with her second goal in as many games. She received a stretch pass from Claire Ritzmann and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one in the 35th minute to give Mercyhurst the early lead.

The lead wouldn't last long however, as Bloomsburg's Sam Rodkey netted her third of the season off a cross in the 40th minute to tie the game 1-1.

Bloomsburg's Erin Bleski scored in the 90th minute after back-and-forth action throughout the second half. Her second of the season was the game-winner for the Huskies (6-1-1).

The Lakers now have a 1-3-1 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Play. They'll return home Sunday, Sept. 24 to host Pitt-Johnstown at 1 p.m.
