Cook's Late Goal Gives Field Hockey 2-1 Win Over Indiana (Pa.)

ERIE, Pa. – Bryna Cook scored the game winning goal in Mercyhurst's 2-1 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Indiana (Pa.). This win pushes the Lakers to a 2-3 record on the season while Indiana falls to a 3-4. 
 
Cook, assisted by Nicolette Tomani, found the net with 95 seconds remaining in regulation breaking a 1-1 scoring deadlock. The Lakers earned a corner shortly after scoring allowing them to drain the remainder of the clock and cement their victory.
 
Taylor Balser, opened up scoring for Mercyhurst in the 28th minute of play when she found net off of a corner from Clare Ahern, pushing them to a 1-0 lead.
 
Matti Reightler, assisted by Camen Weber, scored the lone goal for Indiana (Pa.) in the 53rd minute of play bringing the game a 1-1 tie.

Victoria Triaga was the winning goalie for the Lakers posting five saves and allowing one goal her record moves to 2-3. Alyssa Lerda was the losing goalie for the contest allowing two goals and posting five saves, her record shifts to 3-4. 
 
Mercyhurst held a slight edge in shots posting 16 to the 14 recorded by Indiana. Indiana however had 11 corners two more than the 9 taken by Mercyhurst.  
 
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday against (#1) East Stroudsburg in their first conference game of the season. The contest will be held on the campus of East Stroudsburg University and is set to start at 12 pm.
