Women's Soccer Opens Season With Loss To East Stroudsburg

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team opened its 2017 season with a 1-0 loss to three-time defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament champion East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst Soccer Field.

The Lakers had three opportunities to score in the first half but the Warriors' (1-1-0) goalkeeper Jules Harris made all three saves. Mercyhurst goalkeeper Vilde Wold matched Harris with three saves of her own in her first career game in net as a Laker.

East Stroudsburg broke the scoreless draw in the 62nd minute on Jules Sicker's first goal of the season. The Warriors outshot the Lakers 11-8 for the game.

Mercyhurst (0-1-0) gets back to action on the road at Clarion on Wednesday, September 6 starting at 7 p.m.
