Women's Soccer Grabs First Win

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team upset 23rd-ranked Seton Hill 1-0 for its first win of the 2017 season Tuesday afternoon at Mercyhurst Soccer Field.

The Lakers mimicked their strategy from last game and held possession more consistently than their opponent and the results showed in the first half. The Lakers outshot Seton Hill 8-1 in the opening 45 minutes and scored the game's lone goal in that time.

Emilie Bock netted her first as a Laker in the 19th minute off Anja Korte's free kick. Korte's cross ricocheted right to the open Bock who finished on the wide-open net.

Mercyhurst (1-2-2) is now 3-0 in their last three games versus the Griffins (5-2-0) dating back to 2015.

Mercyhurst ended up with 15 shots to the Griffin's six for the game. Vilde Wold made four saves in her first career win and shutout.

The Lakers hit the road for their next Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup in Bloomsburg Friday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
