VIENNA, W.V. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team handed Ohio Valley its first loss of the season in a 2-0 win on the road Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Lakers improved to 3-1 against non-conference opponents this season and remained undefeated (3-0) in road games.
 
Mercyhurst (4-2-0) grabbed control on the scoreboard early in the seventh minute. Connor Wilkinson was set up for his first goal of the season by Hady Sarr to take the 1-0 advantage.
 
Ohio Valley (6-1-1) threatened with the bulk of shot attempts (23-9), including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, but the Lakers' defense headed by goalkeeper Alex Brems kept the Fighting Scots off the scoreboard. Brems made eight saves for the game, and the Mercyhurst defense thwarted off five OVU corner kicks.
 
The Lakers closed out the game with a second goal thanks to substitute Hunter Burri. After entering for Sarr in the 66^th minute, Burri found some space to net his first goal of the season in the 78th minute. 
 
Mercyhurst takes on Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Bloomsburg in its next game on Friday, Sept 22^nd beginning at 3:30 p.m.
