Lakers Fall By One To West Chester

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team controlled the majority of possession but failed to find the back of the net in its 1-0 loss to West Chester Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst Soccer Field.

Mercyhurst (0-2-2) had four shots on target to West Chester's (3-1-1) three, but the Golden Rams converted on the one play that counted on the scoreboard. Kaitlynn McNamera's free kick into the penalty area found Linzi Wolfe for the only goal of the game in the 37th minute.

Both teams had additional chances to score but ended up hitting goal posts. There were four total posts hit in the game. Mercyhurst's best chance in the second half came off Kenzie Grenell's foot when she pegged the crossbar in the 60th minute.

Vilde Wold made a couple of impressive saves in the second half to keep the game within one. The saves were her only two of the game.

Mercyhurst hosts Seton Hill in its next game on Tuesday, Sept. 19 beginning at 4 p.m.
