ASHLAND, Va. -- The fourth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team lost to 15th-ranked Wingate, 12-11, in overtime on Sunday at Randolph-Macon. A goal by Wingate's Jeremy Sullivan ended the contest.
Kurtis Woodland had four goals for the Lakers (6-2) while leading point-getter
Derek Richards compiled three goals and two assists.
James Crowe,
Greg Weyl,
John Plaskey and
Myles Young also had goals.
Assists were credited to Crowe,
Sam Crusha,
Keyan McQueen and
Oran Horn.
On defense,
Benjamin Brooks finished with five groundballs and three caused turnovers. McQueen picked up four groundballs.
Matt Wells stopped six shots in net.
Austin Murphy was the leader for Wingate (9-3) with three goals and six assists while Will Sheridan earned the win in goal with five saves.
The Lakers will be in action next on Tuesday when they host Alderson Broaddus for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game.
