BUTLER, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst baseball team recorded a pair of shutouts against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Slippery Rock, 4-0 and 3-0, on Sunday.

Game One: Mercyhurst 4, Slippery Rock 0
Winning pitcher
Chris Vallimont worked six scoreless innings, allowing three hits while recording nine strikeouts and three walks.
Drew Borowski pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the victory.
Drew Delsignore batted 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.
Jared Kapturasky also had a 2-for-3 game while
Daniel Elliott collected two RBI and
Matthew Schneider homered.
Schneider's home run got the Lakers on the board in the fifth. Later, Mercyhurst tacked on three insurance runs in the sixth.
Delsignore plated one run with a single in the sixth before Elliott came through with a two-run single.
Game Two: Mercyhurst 3, Slippery Rock 0
Vincenzo Lucente went the distance in earning the win for Mercyhurst. He scattered eight hits while totaling nine strikeouts and one walk.
The Lakers scored all of their runs in the fifth. Gonzalez had a two-run double and Delsignore added an RBI double.
Gonzalez finished 3-for-4 with two doubles.
The Lakers (22-2, 11-1) will return to action with a non-conference game on Tuesday at Notre Dame (Ohio).
