ERIE, Pa.-- The Mercyhurst softball team will travel to Slippery Rock Monday to participate in their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match-up of the season.
Mercyhurst (6-14-1) is coming off of a two game loss in their double header against Le Moyne while Slippery Rock (6-11) is in a one game rut after dropping the second half of their double header to Indiana (Pa.).
Emily Hair, leads the Lakers in batting average with .386, she has a double and three homers. Hair also leads the team in RBI's having 18 on the season, she also leads hits with 27.
Rachel DiBartolomeo leads Mercyhurst in extra base hits having 11, including four homers, four triples, and three doubles. DiBartolomeo has 16 RBI's, and leads slugging percentage with .592.
Jamie Ward and
Jolene Teller both have a .333 batting average for the season. Ward has two doubles and two triples on the season along with four RBI's. While Teller, boasts the highest on base percentage with .451 she has 10 RBI's and three doubles on the season.
Cassandra Egelston leads the Lakers in stolen bases reaching the plate 12 times on 14 attempts.
In the pitcher's circle
Anna Cochis is the most effective for Mercyhurst with a 3.38 ERA over 58 innings of work. Cochis has recorded 28 strikeouts and only given up eight walks.
Slippery Rock is led by Emily Nagle, who has a batting average of .475, five extra base hits, 28 hits, and eight RBI's on the season. Caitlin Baxter has an average of .400 has recorded nine RBI's and six extra base hits. In the circle Brooke Dawson has the best ERA with 1.55 over 49.2 innings pitched, she has recorded 40 strikeouts and allowed 21 walks.
The doubleheader is set to start at 1 p.m. for game one and 3 p.m. for game two at the SRU Softball Complex.
