GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst baseball team took two more games against Seton Hill on Sunday, April 2. The Lakers (16-2, 7-1) shut out the Griffins (15-10, 3-5) 9-0 in game one and followed up with an 11-7 victory in game two.

Recaps to both games are listed below.

Game 1: Mercyhurst 9, Seton Hill 0
Chris Vallimont provided the second-straight shutout for Lakers' pitching and the Mercyhurst lineup scored nine runs on 11 hits to take game one handedly.

Vallimont's effort not only repeated a complete-game shutout by
Russell Lamovec the day before, but he struck out the same amount of batters (12). Vallimont only allowed one hit and two walks to stymie the Seton Hill lineup.

Mercyhurst's best efforts at the plate came from
Chris Gonzalez and
Drew Delsignore. Delsignore drove in Gonzalez on a single in the first inning and in the third inning. He also launched a two-run home run to left field in the fourth inning and finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBI.

Gonzalez had a hit in all four of his at bats, including an RBI-double in the fourth inning and a single that score two in the seventh. He finished with three runs scored, four RBI, and two doubles.

Game 2: Mercyhurst 11, Seton Hill 7
The Lakers and Griffins traded three runs apiece in the first inning before the Lakers scored eight-straight unanswered through the sixth inning to build a large enough lead to hold on by four in the day's second game.

Jimmy Latona led off the game with a solo shot in the first inning. Gonzalez was the only Laker with a multi-hit game and he scored three runs.

Cameron Balego and Delsignore each drove in three runs for the game and did the most damage in the fifth inning. Balego walked with the bases loaded to bring in one, followed by a bases-clearing triple from Delsignore to help the Lakers break the game open in the five-run inning.

Matthew Keating got the win after entering in the second inning. He threw four-plus innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out four.

Mercyhurst continues its conference schedule when it takes on Slippery Rock next weekend, April 7-8. The Lakers host two games on Friday at 1 p.m. while Saturday's doubleheader also begins at 1 p.m. at Slippery Rock.
