This past Monday, April 4th Mercyhurst baseball team walked away with two victories against Penn State Greater Allegheny pushing their record to 18-2. Mercyhurst's first game of the day against Penn State ended up a 22-3 victory while following suit again in the next game at 16-3.
Recaps for both games are listed below.
Game 1: Mercyhurst 22, Penn State Greater Allegheny 3
For the second time this season the Lakers broke 20 runs in a game. The Lakers came on strong with the only homer of the game right off the bat from
Jimmy Latona. This set the rhythm for Mercyhurst to take a demanding lead over Penn State until they scored three in the sixth inning but by then it was too late for them to make a rally return.
It was difficult to single out a star of the game when each Laker that stepped up to the bat had an answer to Penn State's pitching.
Chris Gonzalez and
Drew Delsignore each had three runs themselves. Delsignore singled his fourth and fifth time at bat, driving in his 3 RBI.
